The Forewomen: Industrial Scale & Utilitarian Code / 女工头

Sophomore Year Research & Collection Project (Bushwick, Brooklyn)

Relocating to Bushwick—deep within Brooklyn’s historic industrial and blue-collar footwork footprint—immersed this project in raw labor culture and functional utility. Field research unpacking Carhartt’s heavy-duty archival outerwear merged with the exaggerated, ballooning volumetric proportions of traditional Japanese operational workwear pants (鳶ズボン/tobi trousers).

Design Translation: Heavy utility jackets and cropped technical hoods are contrasted against extreme-volume wide-leg silhouettes, building an armor-like empowerment for the modern "forewoman." The collection mirrors my own perpetual motion as a maker—always on the site, shifting between structural drafting and physical fabrication.
